EG Talent Academy - Huge Success
The EG TA took part in the England Hockey Talent Academy Cup in Nottingham this week.....
The TA Cup in Nottingham this week proved a huge success for the EG TA. Representing no fewer than 10 different clubs and 20 different schools, we can proudly say our TA is a reflection of our entire catchment region.
The TA Cup acts as the step beneath National Age Group Squad selection, meaning it is the highest level of junior representative hockey available short of playing for England. At EG, we are one of 24 Talent Academies in the country and the only one within the Sussex region.
The cup took place over 4 days - our girls & boys sides played group matches vs East, Bristol & Durham before playing classification matches vs Wales (girls) and Surbiton (boys).
The Cup ended on the highest note possible with our girls side winning their final game 2-0 and our boys beating Surbiton TA 5-0!
Both groups played with great enjoyment, tenacity and skill over the course of the tournament and relished their time away together as a group. Plus really great to see such a high number of EGHC Juniors representing in both the Girls & Boys teams for the EG TA this year. (Photo 4 - EGHC Boys representing at the EG TA).
The year-round program gives both our girls & boys squads opportunity to develop as hockey players throughout the full calendar year, providing this service for the highest potential hockey players in the region.
Well done to this year's cohort!
Assessments for the 2024-25 cohort take place in September as we enter a new cycle.
