U14 Boys - T2 League Finals

U14 Boys play in league finals at Folkstone Hockey Club in round-robin tournament on Sunday 12th May. 

The U14 boys competed at Folkstone Optimists Hockey Club in beautiful sunshine for their T2 league finals. They played a round-robin tournament against Folkstone and Woking.

EG vs Woking The first game was against Woking in what felt like 100* heat. After a slow first 10 minutes, the boys kicked into gear and quickly opened up a 3-0 lead before the halftime break. Showing dominance and control, the boys increased the lead to 4-0 going into the final quarter. Woking found a second wind in the game and had a lighting-fast last quarter and managed to bring the score back to 4-2. However, thankfully the lads managed to hang on and secure their first win of the day. After watching Folkstone only win 1-0 in their first game, we knew that Folkstone was the only thing that stood between us and Silverware.

EG vs Folkstone The final game was upon us and with very little break, the boys bravely got back out in the sun to face a well-rested Folkstone team. The boys had a tough first half, conceding two goals in the first quarter put the lads on the back foot. The second quarter was a lot more positive for EG but Folkstone managed to grab a penalty corner on the stroke of half time. Putting the ball into the top left corner of the goal was a real blow going into the halftime break at 3-0 down.
The second half was a completely different story in terms of possession and chances. Camped in the opposition's half, our boys created a bucket load of chances. Hitting the post multiple times and an inspired Goalkeeper kept the score at 3-0. 

The way the boys played in the last game after 3 hours of intense heat was an absolute joy to watch. Not once did they falter or give up. They were a credit to their families and the club for the entire day. Next year it is ours!
